2 Weeks and Forever Changed

Tomorrow at 11:35am, I will have officially been a mommy for 2 weeks    During this time, I have (to name a few):
  • Been pee-ed on (I was definitely shrieking when it happened!  )
  • Changed about 10-15 diapers each day
  • Become sleep deprived and learned to take naps when I can
  • Re-learned how to walk (can't run yet) and I have to take my time when walking up and down stairs
  • Survived major abdominal surgery (I have the scar to show for it!  )
  • Held the cutest baby in the world in my arms (perhaps, I'm a little biased)
  • Cried so much out of joy
  • Cried out of pain, agony, fatigue, and hormonal releases
  • Learned how to swaddle my little guy, although I haven't mastered it like the hubby has (not to be confused with waddling which I still do)
  • Finally understood the kind of love that a parent has for her child (it's amazing!!  )
Being a mommy has been absolutely wonderful!!!    Despite the recovery and pain, I can wholeheartedly say that it was all worth it.  How can anyone not to someone who looks like this?

And this?

Some more pictures for you to enjoy:
These were taken the day we were discharged from the hospital.  Apparently, our little guy likes going into this position after being fed:

Hello Maternity Leave

Today is my last day working on my current project as I will be embarking on a new journey!  I will be taking off until November 21st (so ~19 weeks), and by then it will be Thanksgiving!!  WOW!    I wonder if today will be my LAST DAY working for a loooong time    We'll see how I feel when the little guy is out in the world!

It was weird to hear the announcement that I would be taking a "leave to become a mother."    I will definitely miss the people I worked with on this project.  Here are some of their comments/wishes for me:
  • Congrats.. I'm not even sure quadruplets could be as hectic as being a PM in this mess ;)  Good luck to you.  From a really funny Wintel build guy.  Quadruplets??    This project was definitely insane!
  • congrats on your impending motherhood, and all best wishes and thanks for your assistance with these hectic projects..  Motherhood?  Sounds so weird...
  • Best of luck to you in your new role as a mom.  You are a joy to work with and I hope we have the opportunity to do so again in the future. Bob will miss you terribly!  Will do my best to entertain him!!  Take care and enjoy every minute with your family.  I'M GONNA BE A MOM!!!
  • Its been great working with you.  Best of luck with the new baby.  I'll be sending easy birth vibes your way.  And be sure to enjoy every minute you can with the little one.  Easy birth vibes??  Do they even exist??
  • Thanks for your help over the past few weeks.  Enjoy your maternity leave and most of all enjoy being a Mum.  MUM!  The British colleagues!!
  • Take care.  been great to work with you - all our best wishes for the big event!!!  Eeeeks, the BIG event!!    In just 10 days!!
  • Good luck, the best PM job in the world being a mother!!  Never really thought of a correlation between the role of a mom and that of a PM in Corporate America!  Interresting....    Maybe I should create a project plan for the baby's arrival
  • I am very happy for you, I wish you and your family the best. It has been a pleasure working with you, we will miss you.  I will miss you guys too!!!!!
  • I am sad to see you go  Me too...   But I'm mostly worried of what being a "mum" will be like!
But I am excited to be a mom!!  We had our last ultrasound appointment this week, and our guy is a whopping 6lbs and 5oz already!  I wasn't even this big when I was born!!  Must be the dad's genes!

Will

We are in the process of so many things right now, but one thing that's been on our "to-do" list for the past couple of months is writing our will.  We went to meet w/ the lawyer months ago, and all the things we have to think of seems so morbid.  A few of the questions we have to have answered include:

-  Well, if you can't make health decisions on your own, who do you entrust to do that?  Well, my husband.
-  Now, give us an Alternate in case something happens to him too!  What the ?!!?
-  Ok, so if you die, then who gets everything you own?  Yes, that would be my husband again.
-  Well, if you AND your husband die, who gets your child then?  ...... ummm......
If he's not an adult yet, who's going to take care of him and how would you like him to have your money, like in monthly installments or by the time he reaches a certain age, he gets a certain percentage or lump sum?  .... I don't know!!!
-  Now, if you, your husband, AND your child dies, what happens to all that you have?  Who does that go to?  ...... Help? ......

Didn't help the weird heeby-jeebies that I'm feeling about writing this will since it's looking like my little boy's "grand entrance" into the world will be via c-section, so it's looking like in 3 weeks at 11:30am, I'll be undergoing major surgery, and the hospital sent us these forms to fill out, like:

-  If I were to "not make it," would I want to donate my organs?  Sure... why not?
-  Who's your Health Care Proxy?
-  Who's your Alternate Health Care Proxy?

You can all still pray that our little guy decides to turn before he's ready to enter into this world, so we wouldn't have to go through the surgery!    There *might* still be a chance at a normal delivery attempt!  But...... 3 more weeks!!!!!

New Phone (Alas!!!)

After 4 yrs of being w/ Sprint, I've finally switched over to Verizon!  This has been a long awaited day as I have been waiting for my contract w/ Sprint to end before switching over.  My Sprint phone was the most archaic phone ever - no color, no pictures, no camera, no nothing.  The extent of it was text messages.  Pictures (sorry, I was able to find a picture of my new Verizon phone online, but my Sprint phone is SOOO old that I couldn't find it anywhere!) will show (more than words) how much more technologically wireless-communications-ly more advanced I've become!  Woohoo!

Before:  Bulky, flip, black-and-white, scratched up, ridiculous

After:  Smooth, slick, non-flip, color, email/internet accessible, terrific

I've ordered a dark red case, so I'm looking forward to dressing it up!

Daughter of Christian music star killed by car

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The 5-year-old daughter of Grammy-winning Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman was struck and killed Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle driven by her brother, authorities said.

The girl, Maria Sue, was hit in the driveway of the family's home Wednesday afternoon by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by her teenage brother, said Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The brother, whose name and exact age weren't available, apparently did not see the girl, McPherson said. No charges are expected.

"It looks like a tragic accident," she said.

Several family members witnessed the accident, which happened in Williamson County just south of Nashville. The girl died later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, hospital spokeswoman Laurie Holloway said.

In a statement, Velvet Kelm, a publicist for Chapman, said Maria was the Chapmans' youngest daughter.

Chapman, who is originally from Paducah, Ky., and his wife have promoted international adoption and have three daughters from China, including Maria. They also have three biological children.

The singer's Web site says the couple was persuaded by their oldest daughter to adopt a girl from China. The experience led the family to adopt two more children and create Shaohannah's Hope, a foundation and ministry to financially assist thousands of couples in adoption.

The Chapmans did missionary work at Chinese orphanages in 2006 and 2007, according to the Web site.

"After our first trip to China, my wife and I knew our lives were changing — our eyes and hearts were opening to how big God really is, and we have wanted to experience more of that," Chapman says on the Web site.

"We've really wondered whether or not we should just go to China and stay there. But I don't think so. I believe God is saying, 'I want you to go, get your heart broken, your eyes opened, and then take this story back to the church in America and around the world.'"

The 45-year-old singer also has released a book about being a father titled "Cinderella: The Love of Daddy and his Princess." He has won five Grammy awards and 54 Dove awards from the Gospel Music Association, according to Kelm.
